Description
Surmount started taking shape in 2020, as a collaboration between Jasper Oprel and Indiana-Jonas.
History
Inspired by recent games such as Disc Room, Ape Out and Stardew Valley. Jasper and Jonas decided to develop a game under their own names instead of forming a studio.
Jasper Oprel(he/him) is a game designer, programmer and graphic designer from the Netherlands. He studied architecture at TUDelft and game development at HKU. His game 'Painting of a Cliff' was nominated for the Explorer Award at A MAZE 2020. Jasper's desk is usually a mess, filled with old video games and technological projects.
Indiana-Jonas(he/they) grew up in a small town in Sweden. Inspired by Calvin & Hobbes and One Piece, they wanted to become a comic artist. In 2018 they graduated from Futuregames' 2D Graphics Program and have since worked as an artist at Toca Boca, consulted on Tinykin, Hokko Life and more. They write stories, essays and run a newsletter called Indie Notebook.
Ryan Yoshikami(he/him) is a media composer who specializes in unique, digital fusion-inspired music. Aside from Surmount he's currently working on the Kickstarter-backed, Loddlenaut. His personal work as "quarkimo" explores a variety of musical textures and themes through conceptual albums.
Rumsklang is a two-man company composed of Marcus Nilsson(he/him) and Victor Eidhagen(he/him). They created the sounds for the 2022 Bafta Winner - TOEM.
